      Mrs. Ida E. Carbaugh Smith Naugle
      Chambersburg PA United States

      Mrs. Ida E. (Naugle) Carbaugh Smith, 91, of 5352 Spruce Road, Fayetteville, PA, died at 10: 32 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2009 in the Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, PA, where she was a guest since February 7, 2009. She had been in falling health for the past several years and critically ill for the past week.
      She was born February 15, 1918 in South Mountain, PA; she was the daughter of the late Grover C. Naugle and Nettie Elizabeth (Cauffman) Kauffman Naugle. She lived most of her life in the South Mountain area.
      Mrs. Smith attended New Baltimore School in South Mountain.
      She and her husband, the late Mr. Lincoln E. Carbaugh, were married September 5, 1946 in Marion, PA. They moved to their Spruce Road address in 1948. Mr. Carbaugh died March 8, 1975.
      She and her husband of 10 years, Mr. Irvin T. Smith were married November 10, 1998 in South Mountain Bible Church. Mr. Smith is also a resident of the Village of Laurel Run.
      In early years, Mrs. smith was employed as a secretary at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA for 10 years. She later was employed as a cook in the Dietary Department at South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain for 27 1/2 years. She retired in 1977.
      Mrs. Smith was a member of South Mountain Bible Church, life member of South Mountain Volunteer Fire Company and Former Ladies Auxiliary, both of South Mountain and a member of the national AARP.
      She enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers, working on puzzle books and time spent with her family.
      In addition to he husband, she is survived by two sons, Lane E. Carbaugh of Fayetteville, PA and Donald E. Carbaugh of South Mountain; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
      In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dale C. Huss who died December 24, 2008; a sister, Minnie Wagaman; a brother, Bernard Naugle; and several younger brothers and sisters.
      Burial will be Wednesday, March 25, 2009 in Strang's Cemetery, South Mountain.
